Mike Perham changes his plans

Continuing problems with equipment failure has forced teenage round-the-world sailor Michael Perham to change his plans.  A statement issued on his website late on Thursday 18th December said that he has set a new goal “to be the youngest sailor to circumnavigate the globe”.  This heralds a change from his original aim, which was to become “the youngest person to sail single-handed and unassisted around the world”.

Kizzi Nkwocha, spokesman for Mike's team, told Sailers that whilst Mike was planning to continue his voyage without further stops, the change of plan would allow him to stop for repairs again if necessary without having to re-start his record attempt yet again.
